The Navy Just Sent A Drone To Deliver Cargo To One Of Its Ballistic Missile Submarines

 They also sent a C-17 Globemaster III attached to the USAF 535th Airlift Squadron, a MV-22 Osprey attached to the "Lucky Red Lions" of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 363 and a MH-60R Sea Hawk attached to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 37 to deliver payloads to USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN-730).


Specialized Undersea Rescue Force on Call to Aid Submariners in Trouble

 

“It’s a big ocean, and if a DISSUB [distressed submarine] goes down, you’re really hoping that they’re able to launch a radio buoy or something to alert you to where they are – because this all starts with you have to find them first,”

Japan launches first of its new class of submarines

The new submarine, which has been named the Taigei, meaning Big Whale, was launched at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in the city of Kobe on Wednesday.

Naval Foundry and Propeller Center makes historic first casting for Columbia-class submarines

 The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) in Philadelphia, a detachment of Norfolk Naval Shipyard, made the first casting for a Columbia-Class submarine Aug. 26.

Saying goodbye to 'Narwhal,' a submarine whose stealth changed the Navy

The USS Narwhal — named for a 20-foot-long gray and white arctic whale whose males possess a twisted ivory tusk — was the third such submarine called by that creature.
